Land Acquisitions; Hopi Tribe, Coconino County and Navajo County, Arizona

SUMMARY: Under the Navajo-Hopi Land Dispute Settlement Act of 1996 (Act), Congress approved a final settlement of multiple claims the Hopi Tribe had against the United States. Under the Act, Congress authorized the Hopi Tribe to acquire up to 500,000 acres of land in northern Arizona to be taken into trust, including private land purchased from willing sellers and interspersed State trust land held by the State of Arizona located within the exterior boundaries of the purchased private land. The Hopi Tribe purchased 161,423.58 acres of private land from willing sellers, which are held in trust by the United States. Additionally, together with the State of Arizona, the Hopi Tribe has identified for acquisition an additional 110,759.17 acres of interspersed State trust lands. At the request of the Department of the Interior, the Department of Justice has initiated proceedings to condemn the interspersed State trust lands identified by the Hopi Tribe and the State of Arizona under the authority of section 6 of the Act and applicable Federal law. The parcels to be condemned and then taken into trust are described below.

Request for Information: Child Nutrition Programs Tribal Pilot Projects

SUMMARY: This is a Request for Information to inform the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA's) development of the Child Nutrition Programs Tribal Pilot Projects, as authorized in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024. The Act authorized USDA to conduct pilot projects to allow one or more Tribes or Tribal organizations to administer one or more Child Nutrition Programs, assuming the roles and responsibilities typically held by State agencies. USDA will use comments received in response to this Request for Information to inform the application process, and eligibility and selection criteria, for the Child Nutrition Tribal Pilot Projects. USDA invites feedback from Tribes; Tribal organizations, leaders, representatives, and associations; State agencies that administer the Child Nutrition Programs; and others interested in opportunities to promote Tribal sovereignty in the operation of the Child Nutrition Programs. This notice is not a request for proposals and does not commit the Government to issue a solicitation, make an award, or pay any costs associated with responding to this announcement. All submitted information will remain with the Government and will not be returned.

Fiscal Year 2024 List of Programs Eligible for Inclusion in Funding Agreements Negotiated With Self-Governance Tribes by Interior Bureaus Other Than the Bureau of Indian Affairs; Fiscal Year 2025 Programmatic Targets

SUMMARY: Pursuant to the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (Act), as amended, for each of the Department of the Interior (Department) bureaus other than the Bureau of Indian Affairs, this notice lists programs or portions of programs eligible for inclusion in self-governance funding agreements with Indian Tribes, and Fiscal Year 2025 programmatic targets for each of the non-Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) bureaus in the Department of the Interior (Department), pursuant to title IV of the Act, as amended. Revisions to this list are based upon feedback received in Tribal Consultations in January 2023 on what information would be most helpful to Indian Tribes seeking ways to develop collaborative arrangements in the co-stewardship of Federal lands and waters.
