RESOLUTION No. 2001- 45


RE: APPOINTMENT OF JUDGES TO THE COUSHATTA COURT OF APPEALS

WHEREAS, the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana (the "Tribe") is a sovereign Indian Nation recognized as such by the United States of America;

WHEREAS, the Coushatta Tribal Council is the duly elected governing body of the Coushatta Tribe,

WHEREAS, the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana is a sovereign entity whose existence antedates that of the United States of America and the State of Louisiana, and

WHEREAS, it is desirable and in the best interest of the Tribe to appoint a Chief Judge and two Associate Judges to comprise the Coushatta Court of Appeals;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Coushatta Tribal Council hereby names and appoints Hon. P.J. Laborde, Jr., Chief Judge, Hon. C. Thomas Bienvenu, Jr., Associate Judge, and Hon. Edward A. delaHoussaye, III, Associate Judge, to the Coushatta Court of Appeals pursuant to Title I, Chapter 2, Section 3 of the Judicial Codes of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, for a term of 2 year(s), to be compensated at a rate of $125.00 per hour plus reasonable travel-related expenses.

This resolution was duly acted upon by the following council members at a meeting held on October 30, 2001 , with a quorum present.
