ADOPTION ORDINANCES OF THE REDDING RANCHERIA

Be It Resolved By The Redding Rancheria Tribal Council that the following
Adoption Ordinances have been passed by a vote of 6 for and 0
against at a duly called meeting of the Redding Rancheria Tribal Council.
TRIBAL COUNCIL CONSENT
There shall be a unanimous consent of all seven (7) council members
at a duly called meeting in which all 7 council members must be in attendance.
TESTIMONY
Testimony in favor and against adoption of such tentative members by
any Redding Rancheria member including members of the Tribal Council
shall be allowed to be heard.
VERIFICATION
The tentative members shall be of Indian descent with verification of
1/4 degree Indian blood.
ADOPTEE HEIRS
Those tentative members that are approved shall not have the right to
bring into the membership of the Redding Rancheria with them any heirs
or future heirs. Any benefits that the adoptee shall receive shall not
be obligated by any will or probate, nor any encumbrance during his
or her life or death.
RESTRICTIONS
The seven Tribal Council members shall only allow a maximum of one (1)
adoptions per year and the Tribal Council shall seek and have guarantee
of extra funds to take care of that adoptee of the previous year before
they allow any new adoptions to be approved.
FINAL APPROVAL
No person shall be enrolled as an adopted member of the Redding Rancheria
except by a majority vote of the General Council at a Regular or Special
meeting of the General Council.
DUAL MEMBERSHIP
Any person submitting an application for adoption into the Redding Rancheria
shall not be a member of any other tribe or band.
BURDEN OF PROOF
The burden of proof for verification of Indian decent and no duel membership
shall be on the applicant.
ADOPTION HEARINGS
Adoption hearings shall be held one month prior to the annual General
Council meetings and closed thereafter until the following year.
HONORARY ADOPTIONS
A person may be adopted as an honorary member subject to approval of
the majority of the Tribal Council. Honorary adoptees shall have no
monetary benefits or voting powers or any other benefits the Redding
Rancheria membership shares.
