Resolution No. 059-07 — Communicable Disease, Vaccination, and Quarantine

WHEREAS, The Stockbridge-Munsee Community, Band of Mohican Indians, is a federally recognized Indian tribe with inherent sovereign powers, and is governed by the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Council pursuant to the 1937 Constitution; and,

WHEREAS, The Stockbridge-Munsee Community has the authority under its constitution and its inherent rights as a sovereign nation to adopt and amend Ordinances; and,

WHEREAS, The Stockbridge-Munsee Community desires to regulate the actions that might be necessary in the event there is bioterrorism event, or communicable disease event; and,

WHEREAS, Such regulation, as an exercise of its governmental powers, is necessary to protect the political integrity, economy, and the general welfare of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Council hereby adopts Chapter 26A, Communicable Disease, Vaccination, and Quarantine Ordinance.
