Resolution No. 059-19 — Truancy

WHEREAS, The Stockbridge-Munsee Community is a federally recognized Indian tribe with inherent sovereign powers and is governed by the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Council pursuant to the 1937 Constitution, as amended;

WHEREAS, The Stockbridge-Munsee Community has the authority under its Constitution and its inherent rights as a sovereign nation to adopt and amend Ordinances;

WHEREAS, Chapter 13, Truancy, establishes the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Law on Truancy;

WHEREAS, The Tribal Council wishes to ensure required attendance by school aged children; and

WHEREAS, The Tribal Council also wishes to ensure that families of school aged children receive the support and encouragement they need to ensure the required attendance of the household's school aged children;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Council hereby adopts the amendments to Chapter 13, which make the following changes:

  • The following new sections were added: 13.5 was modified and renumbered as 13.5(A) with new subsections (1) and (2) added; 13.6 (N) and (O); and 13.13 (E).
  • The following sections were amended: 13.1; 13.4; 13.6 (C), (D), (E), (G), and (J); 13.8; 13.9(B); 13.10 (C); 13.11; and 13.13 (A-D).
  • The following materials were deleted: 13.3; and 13.6 (M).
  • The following materials were renumbered or had numbering added: 13.6 (N) as (M); 13.10; 13.11; and 13.14 was renumbered as 13.14 (A) and 13.15 was renumbered to be 13.14 (B).
