25.1.8.200 Lamp or Flag on Projecting Load

(a) Whenever the load upon any vehicle extends to the rear four (4) feet or more beyond the bed or body of such vehicle, there shall be displayed at the extreme rear end of the load, at the times specified in this Code, a red light or lantern plainly visible from a distance of at least 500 feet to the sides and rear. The red light or lantern required under this section shall be in addition to the read rear light required upon every vehicle. At any other time there shall be displayed at the extreme rear end of such load a red flag or cloth not less than 12 inches square and so hung that the entire areas is visible to the driver of a vehicle approaching from the rear.

(b) If any part of a vehicle, or any load thereon, or any mechanical device, whether a temporary or permanent part of the vehicle, extends beyond the front bumpers thereof, the extreme front corners of such project shall be at the times specified in Section 66-3-802 indicated by amber lights or lanterns visible a distance of at least 500 feet to the sides and front.
