Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians Tribal Code

29.01.020 Purpose and Construction

(a) The purposes of this Title are:

(1) To encourage commerce;

(2) To reform and develop the laws of business organizations and corporations;

(3) To ensure that corporate assets, but not those generally of the Tribe, are available for the satisfaction of valid claims of corporate creditors;

(4) To simplify, clarify, and modernize the laws applicable to both for-profit and non-profit corporations chartered or created under the sovereign powers of the Tribe; and

(5) To facilitate the creation of business organizations for private citizens to form their own corporations to gain the benefits of corporate business.

(b) The provisions of this Title shall be construed and applied with deference to business development.
