The history of the Siletz Tribe’s contributions to the Native American Rights Fund is a shining example of philanthropy and commitment to justice. The Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund (STCCF) has played a pivotal role in supporting NARF’s law clerk program, which is crucial for nurturing new legal talent dedicated to advocating for Indian Country.

This longstanding partnership has not only highlighted the STCCF’s generosity but has also significantly advanced NARF’s mission of fostering legal expertise to champion the rights of tribal communities. Through their support, the STCCF has helped train a new generation of attorneys, each equipped to tackle the complex legal challenges facing Tribal Nations and to work toward a brighter future for all tribal communities.

We are thrilled to share that this year’s recipient of the prestigious Siletz Grant is Sapphire Carter. Sapphire is a Chippewa-Cree tribal member from the Rocky Boy’s Reservation in Montana and a rising third-year at the University of Montana School of Law. She is interested in  all of NARF’s work but particularly interested in water rights, voting rights, cultural property, and environmental law.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Siletz Tribe and the STCCF for their unwavering support and for making a tangible difference through their contributions. Congratulations to Sapphire Carter for this well-deserved recognition, and we look forward to witnessing the impactful work she will continue to accomplish in her career.
