Tribal Education Departments National Assembly
NARF started the Tribal Education Departments National Assembly in 2003 and continues to represent Tribal Education Departments on issues like national legislation and federal appropriations.
Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (Native Village of Venetie Tribal Government v. Bernhardt)
The Native Village of Venetie Tribal Government, Arctic Village Council, and Venetie Village Council at this stage of their long-term struggle to protect their homelands in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Crow Tribe off-reservation hunting rights (Herrera v. Wyoming)
The Crow Tribe secured recognition of its hunting territory and hunting rights in the mid-1800s, but Wyoming refused to recognize them. The U.S. Supreme Court affirmed the Tribe's rights in 2019. The fight continues.
Coronavirus Relief Funding (CARES Act)
Tribes sought to ensure that the tribal Coronavirus Relief Funds were disbursed directly and exclusively to tribal governments. For-profit Alaska Native Corporations are not Indian tribes, therefore they should not receive funding intended for tribal governments.
