NARF Staff Attorney Joel West Williams has published an article on the law regarding traditional religious practices for Native inmates. The article discusses American Indian religious practices, the persistent misunderstanding among correctional institutions regarding the role of traditional religious practices in American Indian life and the rehabilitation of American Indian inmates, and the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA).
