Your support this past year made things better for Native peoples. Changes that you set in motion in 2023, will create impact for years to come. For example, your partnership made possible:
#NotYourMascot
Defending free speech and standing strong against hateful mascots that harm Native youth.
Protecting voting rights in North Dakota
In November, the U.S. District of North Dakota ruled that they agreed with the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation and successfully defended the creation of a new sub-district that allows Native voters to be heard.
Upholding the Indian Child Welfare Act
In a major win for Native families, the Supreme Court upholds the constitutionality of the Indian Child Welfare Act.
Bears Ears Protected
On Friday, August 11, 2023, United States District Judge David Nuffer of the United States District Court of the District of Utah granted motions to dismiss the cases challenging the Bears Ears National Monument designation. Unfortunately, this decision recently was appealed, but NARF is committed to standing strong with the Tribal Nations and so many people who fought tirelessly to protect this one-of-a-kind landscape and all that it contains!
By joining NARF and tribal governments in asserting, defending, and advocating for Native rights, you made all the difference this year. At NARF, we appreciate every fellow advocate for tribal sovereignty and the continuation of Native cultures, societies, and peoples. Thank you for standing strong for Native rights in 2023 and beyond.
