NARF represented the Nez Perce Tribe in Idaho in its water rights claims in the Snake River Basin Adjudication—litigation and settlement—for more than 16 years.
VAWA contained a controversial provision that excluded Alaska Native tribes from the tribal jurisdiction provisions. NARF unsuccessfully worked to have the Alaska exclusion removed from the bill.
