Lyman County (SD) Redistricting (Lower Brule Sioux Tribe v. Lyman County)

A delayed redistricting plan in Lyman County disenfranchises Native American voters. A preliminary injunction requires the county, by 2024, to replace an at-large election system that has made it impossible for Native voters to elect local representation for 30 years.

Defending Crow Tribe’s Right to Govern (Big Horn County Electric Cooperative v. Big Man)

The Crow Tribe is defending its right and responsibility to protect tribal citizens against a utility company that refuses to follow tribal law.

Pembina Judgment Fund (Peltier v. Haaland)

In June 2021, the court gave final approval to a $59 million negotiated settlement over Pembina Chippewa Indian funds held in trust by the U.S. since 1964. Distribution of settlement funds ended in December 2024.
